On 19-21 May 2017, All-Russian Student Olympiad was held in the field of “Physics of Laser and Plasma Technologies” with the support of NRNU MEPhI.
The Olympiad consisted of two sections:
1st section – Physics of Laser Technologies: propagation of optical radiation in geometrical-optics approximation; light diffraction; waves and oscillations; classic description of electromagnetic field; spatial and temporal coherence of radiation; basics of laser physics.
2nd section – Physics of Plasma Technologies: charged particle motion in electric and magnetic fields; electron optics; emission electronics; elementary processes in gases; electric current in gases; magnetic plasma confinement; plasma diagnostics methods; waves and oscillations.
Every student of higher education institutions willing to participate in the Olympiad had to meet several requirements. They had to be no older than 25 at the time of the Olympiad and be in the process of obtaining their Bachelor’s, Master’s or Specialist’s degree in one of the following specialties:
- 14.00.00 “Nuclear Physics and Technologies”
- 03.00.00 “Physics and Astronomy”
- 12.00.00 “Photonics, Instrument Engineering, Optical and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies”
- 16.00.00 “Physical and Technical Sciences and Technologies”
Specialization in the field of laser and plasma technologies and successive passing of competitive selection in a corresponding higher education institution were also required.
Winners, awardees and top achievers in each of nominations were granted with diplomas and valuable gifts from NRNU MEPhI and sponsors of the Olympiad.
Winners, awardees and laureates of the Olympiad were granted with privileges and benefits for admission to NRNU MEPhI Master and Postgraduate degrees. The following specialties were included: “Nuclear Physics and Technologies”, “Physics and Astronomy”, “Photonics, Instrument Engineering, Optical and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies”.
Place of the Olympiad:
